Gynaecological Surgery

As a specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist, Dr Maseko has the necessary training and expertise to perform gynaecological surgery if she deems it necessary for her patients.

Gynaecology surgery includes any surgical procedure that involves the organs and structure of the female pelvic region: the uterus, ovaries, cervix, fallopian tubes, vagina, and vulva. Some gynecologic surgeries are simple and may be done in Dr Maseko's office, while others are done in the hospital.

There are many reasons why you may need to undergo gynaecological surgery. You may need treatment for a condition such as the following:

• Endometriosis
• Fibroids (benign tumours)
• Ovarian cysts
• Cancer
• Chronic pelvic pain
• Pelvic inflammatory disease
• Uterine prolapse
• Abnormal bleeding

Gynaecology surgery, such as a hysterectomy or tubal ligation (tying of the fallopian tubes), can also be used as a permanent method of birth control.
